Jim Kitses has taught film in England, Canada and the US, and is the author of Horizons West: Directing the Western from John Ford to Clint Eastwood, a study of the noir classic film Gun Crazy, and co-editor of The Western Reader. He is also an Emeritus Professor in the School of Cinema at San Francisco State University.

Bill Nichols
Bill Nichols is an American film critic and theoretician best known for his pioneering work as founder of the contemporary study of documentary film. Nichols is Professor Emeritus in the Cinema Department at San Francisco State University and Chair of the Documentary Film Institute advisory board. Encyclopedia of the Documentary Film describes his place within film studies as "the most significant documentary scholar in the world". Not a film historian in the traditional sense, Nichols has offered fresh views of historical assumptions but his main contribution has been to offer a conceptual framework for the study and production of documentary film.

She has produced films, videos and interactive cinema on subjects ranging from domestic violence to global terrorism, and has published in traditional print and online venues. She created and taught a course to study and create films made specifically for the internet, "Cinema as an Online Medium". She teaches courses in digital cinema, interactive cinema, web cinema and short format screenwriting. In 2004 she was named an Apple Distinguished Educator.
